Measure your consumption
Unless you know what you’re paying and how much energy you’re using, you won’t know the impact the changes make. You should take a meter read every month and check your bills to see how they change.
Switch off equipment when not in use
Just getting employees to turn off computers, monitors, printers and fax machines when they go home can make a big difference.
Maximise natural light
Don't just turn up at the office and switch the lights on, assess whether you really need it first. Open blinds/curtains to get the best from your free light source.
Reduce what you print
Check t see if people really need a document or can it be emailed instead. If its you on the receiving end of an email, consider whether your need to print it off.
Less air conditioning
On hot days, open windows and doors instead of automatically switching on the fan or air conditioning unit
Turn the radiators down
Turn off radiators in areas that aren’t used much such as warehouses, corridors etc. Turn them down in other areas. You will save 1% off your heating bill for every degree you turn down your thermostat
Encourage your colleagues to save energy
